A Simple 3-Day Da Nang Itinerary for First-Timers

Three days and two nights is enough time to cover the essentials in Da Nang without turning your trip into a sprint. This is the itinerary we usually suggest to first-time guests, built around realistic travel times between spots so you get to see the city without running yourself ragged.

Day 1: Check in, My Khe beach, and Dragon Bridge at night

Morning and early afternoon are for travel and settling in, especially if you're flying in from far away. Da Nang airport is close to the city center — usually a 15 to 20-minute ride to An Hai or My Khe — so you'll still have most of the afternoon left.

• Check in, drop your bags, and rest for a bit after the flight or the drive.
• In the afternoon, head to My Khe beach for a swim or a walk along the sand. If swimming isn't your thing, grabbing a coffee with a beach view for sunset is just as worthwhile.
• In the evening, make your way to Dragon Bridge and the Bach Dang riverside walking street along the Han River. This is when the city lights up, and the bridges look their best.
• If it happens to be a weekend night, Dragon Bridge puts on a fire and water show — check the schedule ahead of time so you don't miss it.

Keep the first night low-key, since day 2 will be the busiest and most active day of the trip.

Day 2: Ba Na Hills or Son Tra Peninsula (pick one)

This is the day to dedicate fully to one bigger, out-of-town destination — both options below involve a fair amount of travel and walking.

If you choose Ba Na Hills: go early in the morning to beat the crowds and the midday heat. The area has a cable car up the mountain, a French-style village, the Golden Bridge, and a few amusement areas. Since it's spread out, plan to spend the whole day there and head back into the city in the evening to rest.

If you choose Son Tra Peninsula: it's a gentler day, better if you'd rather avoid big crowds. Son Tra is home to Linh Ung Pagoda and its large Lady Buddha statue overlooking the sea, plus quiet, tree-lined coastal roads that are great for exploring by electric scooter. Grab lunch somewhere nearby, then head back earlier to rest up for the final day.

Day 3: Marble Mountains, a last walk, and check-out

Keep the last day easy, and stick close to the city center so you're not rushing to catch a flight or bus.

• In the morning, visit the Marble Mountains — a cluster of limestone peaks with caves and pagodas, not far from My Khe. If you've got the energy, climbing up to the higher levels gives you a nice view over the city.
• If you're drawn to old-town charm instead, you could swap this for a morning trip to Hoi An, but budget extra time for the drive there and back.
• Head back around midday for lunch and check-out.
• If your flight or bus is later in the day, you'll still have time for one last stop at My Khe beach or some last-minute souvenir shopping before you leave.

A few notes on pacing

• Spots within the city itself — My Khe, An Hai, Dragon Bridge, downtown — are all close together, usually a 10 to 15-minute ride apart, so days 1 and 3 don't need tight scheduling.
• Both Ba Na Hills and Son Tra sit further from the center, so it's best to pick just one major excursion per day rather than cramming both in.
• Traveling with older relatives or young kids? Swap Ba Na Hills (lots of walking, high cable car) for Son Tra or the Marble Mountains for an easier pace.
• Always check the weather first — Da Nang's rainy season runs roughly September through December, so keep outdoor plans like the beach or Ba Na Hills flexible in case you need to switch to a pagoda or museum instead.
