A lot of people assume a Da Nang trip means paying for one ticketed attraction after another. That's not really the case. Da Nang has plenty to offer that costs nothing at all, or maybe just the price of a drink or a street snack. Here's what we usually point guests toward when they want a good time without watching every dollar.
My Khe beach: free, every single day
Swimming, walking, or just sitting and catching the breeze at My Khe beach doesn't cost a thing. If you're an early riser, head down at sunrise to watch fishermen pulling in their nets or locals doing group exercise on the sand — honestly a more memorable scene than most paid photo spots. Late afternoon is gentler on the skin too, good for a walk along the shore or simply watching the sun go down.
A couple of small notes: bring your own water, freshwater rinse stations along the beach usually charge a small fee, and stick to areas with lifeguards if you're not confident swimming in open water with waves.
An evening walk along the Han River and Dragon Bridge
At night, the area around Dragon Bridge and the Bach Dang riverside walking street gets lively without anyone needing a ticket. Walking along, watching the bridges lit up, people-watching, taking photos — it's all free and always has its own atmosphere. On weekend nights, Dragon Bridge puts on a fire and water show, also free to watch — just get there early to grab a good spot.
Riding around Son Tra Peninsula
Son Tra has shaded, tree-lined coastal roads with gorgeous bay views. Visiting the main spots doesn't cost much — the only real expense is fuel, or a rental fee if you don't already have a vehicle. Go with an electric scooter and even that cost drops, since there's no fuel to buy along the way.
Best to go in the morning or in the cooler part of the afternoon, since the road winds for a while with limited shade in some stretches.
Wander a local market, no purchase required
Han Market and other everyday local markets in Da Nang are great places to stroll, watch daily life unfold, and take photos without spending a cent. They're also a good spot to grab cheap local snacks if you want a taste of the food without sitting down at a restaurant.
Riverside parks and public spaces
Da Nang has no shortage of parks and riverside plazas where locals go to exercise or take an evening walk. These spots often host small community events, sometimes a water fountain show or a free weekend gathering. If you're traveling with kids, this is an easy, no-ticket way to spend an evening together.

If a ticketed attraction like Ba Na Hills isn't in the budget right now, you can still get elevated views of Da Nang from a few pull-off spots along Hai Van Pass or on Son Tra Peninsula — completely free, as long as you stop somewhere safe and mind the passing traffic.
