Best Spots to Watch the Sunset in Da Nang

My Khe Beach — the closest and easiest
If you're staying in the An Hai area like most of our guests, My Khe is the most convenient choice. One thing to know: Da Nang's coastline faces east, so in the afternoon you won't see the sun drop straight into the sea. Instead, the sky behind you takes on color while golden light reflects across the water. It's a gentle kind of sunset — perfect for a barefoot walk on the sand, a drink at a beachfront café, or simply floating in water that's still warm from the day.
Late afternoon is also when the beach cools off and comes alive, with plenty of locals coming out to swim and play sports. If you like a lively atmosphere, join in; if you'd rather have quiet, just walk a bit further south and you'll find emptier stretches of sand.
Son Tra Peninsula — the view from above
For a more dramatic vantage point, Son Tra is hard to beat. Riding an electric scooter up the hillside roads gives you a sweeping view over the entire coastline and the city below. At dusk, the light spilling over the forest and the sea creates a scene that feels completely different from standing down on the beach.
A few honest cautions: the road up Son Tra has plenty of steep sections and sharp bends, so ride carefully, check your vehicle before heading up, and don't linger too late — darkness falls quickly here and the mountain roads have little lighting. The best plan is to go up a bit earlier than sunset so you have time to find a good spot, then head back down before it gets fully dark.
The Han River and its bridges — sunset in the heart of the city
Not everyone wants to head to the beach or up a mountain, and the good news is that the city center has its own romantic sunset spots. The stretches along the Han River, especially the Bach Dang riverside walk and around the base of the Dragon Bridge, are ideal for watching the sun disappear behind the buildings across the water. The river reflects the fading light just as the bridge lights begin to switch on, making for a beautiful handover between day and night.

This is the easygoing option for anyone who doesn't want to travel far: just pick a west-facing seat, order a drink, and watch the sky change at your own pace. It works especially well on partly cloudy days, when the scattered light of sunset often produces even richer colors than usual.

- Check the day's sunset time and arrive about 30–45 minutes early. The best colors usually come just before and just after the sun drops, not only at the exact moment it sets.

- Bring a light jacket if you're heading up Son Tra or sitting by the river when the breeze picks up — late afternoons can feel cooler than you'd expect.
